The measurement method of X-ray thickness gauge is ray penetration absorption type, and the direct physical quantity is surface density （gram weight） . When X-ray penetrates material, the X-ray is reflected, scattered or absorbed by material, which leads to some attenuation of X-ray intensity. When the volume density of the material is fixed or the consistency is high, the thickness of the material can be measured by volume density conversion （surface density = density * thickness）
